Friday January 20, 1995: Dutch peacekeepers detained in Bosnia
The Dutch defence ministry has announced that approximately 100 Dutch peacekeepers assigned to UNPROFOR are being held by Bosnian Moslem forces near Srebrenica. The commander of the Dutch battalion is conducting negotiations to secure the release of the peacekeepers. The Moslems are preventing the peacekeepers from patrolling the zone to the southwest of the enclave. The spokesperson said that whilst the peacekeepers were in 'good shape' they were being deprived of their freedom of movement.
